Before we get into the review, I think it will be helpful to give you a little info about me. I’ve always had issues with my feet being dry. As such, I’ve tried just about every foot lotion known to man. Regular lotion simply doesn’t cut it – I need super moisture for these feet! Before I switched to nontoxic products I used several different mainstream brands that were pretty good. No matter how good they were, I always ended up with really dry spots on the edge of my big toe in less than 24 hours. After years of trying to find something to fix the problem, I gave up and accepted that I would have to re-apply lotion to the edges of my toes several times a day to keep that dry spot away.
Fast forward to 2012, when I had reached my breaking point with my Hashimoto’s symptoms and being told “I don’t know why you still feel bad” by multiple doctors. I’ll spare you all the gory details, but if you want to know more, you can always read my bio. Anyway, after some research, I decided to switch my personal care products to ones that didn’t contain toxic chemicals. Some of the worst offenders I avoid are parabens, triclosan, fragrance (unless from essential oils), and petroleum-based ingredients.
Because I’m stubborn and was curious to see how much of a difference it would make to switch all of our personal care products at once, we went all in. We went to Whole Foods armed with one of the most important books in my journey called “No More Dirty Looks” (available in my store here: http://astore.amazon.com/mycrnoli-20). This lotion was the very first nontoxic foot lotion I purchased. It is also one of the few I’ve tried, but that’s only because it works so well! The scent comes from the plant based ingredients in the lotion, and it is pleasant. It has a very light smell of pistachio, but not overpowering. Keep in mind that natural smells will wear away faster than synthetic fragrances, and that’s a good thing! The feel of the lotion is thick and creamy but not greasy. When I apply this lotion, it feels like it’s quenching the dry skin on my feet. It soaks in quickly so I’m not slipping on the bathroom floor after applying it. My feet stay hydrated longer than with any other lotion I’ve tried.
As I said earlier in the post, I tried so many different lotions designed for dry feet, most of which had all kinds of toxins in them. None of them worked as well as this lotion does. Desert Essence is an effective natural brand and their products are very reasonably priced! I’m impressed with the brand as a whole. They believe in responsibly sourcing their ingredients and use biodegradable and recyclable materials in their packaging. Desert Essence is one of the best nontoxic personal care product companies that I know of! No, they are not paying me to say that – I like them that much.
This may sound gross, but I decided to go a few days without showering just to see how long it would take for my feet to get dry. By the third day I needed to put lotion on my big toe, but the rest of my foot was fine. I’m so impressed with this lotion I have no desire to try another one. On the rare occasions where I was unable to find it and purchased another lotion, I was unhappy with them. This product is unavailable in any of my local stores, so I order it. And you know it, this lotion is in my Amazon store: http://astore.amazon.com/mycrnoli-20 . In an effort to make it easier for my readers to find nontoxic products, I’ve compiled a collection of things that I use and love in my Amazon store. If you purchase something from the store, I earn a small commission that would go towards covering the cost associated with running this blog.
If you’re looking to replace your toxic foot lotion with an effective, nontoxic, reasonably priced one, Desert Essence Organics Pistachio Foot Repair Cream is the way to go in my experience. My goal is to help you find safe beauty products that work BETTER than their toxic counterparts. Hopefully I’ve accomplished that. Thanks for taking time out of your day to read!
